Thanks to a lot of help I've received here on SO, I've gotten an algorithm to check a list of around 15,000 8-letter words for any partial anagrams, against a list of around 50,000 total words (so I suppose a total of 108 million iterations). I call this method once for each comparison (so 750 million times).
